Day 7 - Stowe to North Conway

We woke up to a very chilly Stowe, the temperature has def dropped dramatically since the early sunny days. It was dry at least!

We had breakfast in the hotel, pancakes and bacon with lashings of Vermont Maple syrup, then hit the road. We were sad to leave the Stowehof behind because it was an absolute dream. We were also leaving Vermont behind as our first stop for the day was Littleton, New Hampshire.

Littleton was high on K's list as it is home to Chutters which has the worlds longest candy counter. K was the proverbial kid in a sweet shop and danced around with her pic n mix bag, absolutely delighted. We went a wee walk around town and it was all very cute, there was even a covered bridge in the centre of town. There was even some nice street art but one seemed a bit sarky, it said: "welcome" to Littleton!

Pushing on from Littleton we headed for Flume Gorge. The drive was beautiful as it was mountains and foliage on all sides. Flume Gorge is a walk through a narrow split in rock with water pouring through. They have built a wee path suspensed over it. It was $16 dollars each entry fee but it was pretty great so I'd say it was worth it. I was properly knackered by the end though even it was only a couple of miles, there were a lot of steps to be fair.

We were really lucky with the weather today which was good as we covered a lot of ground. We grabbed a quick bagel lunch at the White Mountain Bagel Co in Lincoln (we both had honey walnut cream cheese - amazing!) before hitting the Kancamagus Highway. The Kanc was amazing, loads of amazing views, colours and great stops. The only thing was that the wind was freezing when we were at the viewpoints so we decided we needed gloves for tomorrow. When we got to North Conway we headed to Wallmart and bought some hats and gloves.

We're staying at an air bnb here in North Conway for the next couple of nights so we wanted to see it before seeing the town. Thankfully we got in ok and it is really nice, it has keypad entry rather than a key so it was all very easy.

Once we were settled in we went to investigate the town and it is pretty cute - classic resort town. We decided to play some mini golf cos, unbelievably, we hadnt managed to yet. The good news is that I won, convincingly!

After my display of sporting prowess we headed for dinner at Delaney's Hole in the Wall. It is just a local bar/restaurant but it was rammed - we had to wait 45 mins for a table. While we were waiting we saw some people just going about their life supporting Trump, a man with a re-elect Trump tshirt and a douchey looking teenage boy with a maga cap on. We didnt have that in Vermont!

We shared some chicken tenders, fried green beans and a stromboli. Fried green beans are my fave and the portion was massive, MASSIVE! Everything was delicious and we to get half of the green beans to go cos there were so many. The people at the table next to us were good for listening in to, the girl was "deathly allergic" to avocado and they also prayed before eating their dinner!

Post-dinner we just came back to the apartment to watch some Netflix and ready ourselves for tomorrow. We need to be out early to get the cog railway to the top of Mount Washington, fingers crossed we get good weather!

  1. Omg, they prayed before eating in a restaurant. The trump loving 🤮 and sarky Street art. Things seem to have taken a dark twist. Your mini golf victory makes up for yesterdays scrabble defeat, but only because you won convincingly.
